Web 2.0 is an outcome of an open source community efforts to emerge as a new business trend where business can take a new shape for all its users. It is a term coined by O'Reilly Media Vice President Dale Dougherty to emphasis a post-dot-com generation of sites and services that use the web as a platform.
It is a new technology approach: after software undergoes development cycle, user need not wait for upgrade or new version release for installation of software for using the software as this is quite a lengthy process. New development paradigm has refined the overall process letting users to benefit from software continuously being refined.
Web 1.0 Vs Web 2.0:
- Web 1.0 involved was meant for handful of tech professionals and characterized for commercial groups; Web 2.0 is consumer-centric open for user participation
- Web 1.0 involved web pages static in nature that were updated at regular intervals but web 2.0 methodologies include dynamic web pages updated dynamically.
- Web 2.0 has technologies as its domain but range has no limits defined (blogs, RSS syndication, Rails, AJAX, Wikis, Communication tools, Tagging sites and other bookmarking sites) actively broadening its database
